Connect projects, goals, and topics with Slack

You can use Atlassian Home app for Slack to post updates without switching tools. Regular updates keep stakeholders informed, provide early feedback, and broadcast progress.

Once an Atlassian project, goal, or tag has been connected to a Slack channel, future updates will be automatically shared with that and any other connected channels. This makes it easy to keep all your stakeholders in-the-know by automatically sharing any new updates (as you post them) in the Slack channels they are already in.

You can connect individual projects and goals or connect many at once with a tag. By linking a tag, you will receive updates from all projects and goals currently associated with it. Any additions or removals of projects and goals within a linked tag will trigger automatic updates in the application.

The app will also send automated reminders and digests directly to owners and followers in Slack, display rich previews of projects, goals, and tags links and offer tips for maintaining project hygiene.

Set up the app

Once you have the app installed in your Slack workspace, there are 3 ways you can connect a project, goal, or tag to a Slack channel:

1. Paste a link to a project, goal, or tag in a Slack channel: Upon sharing the link, you’ll be able to choose to manage a project, goal, or a specific tag. When you select, a dialog box will appear, showing buttons to link a project, goal, or tag.

2. Use the command: Enter the /Atlassian command in the chat to view the options to connect projects, goals or manage existing connections. Alternatively, you can use the /atlassian connect <URL> shortcut will directly link your project with Slack. You can add multiple projects, goals, and tags to the same Slack channel so you can share all of your team’s progress in one place.

3. Connect from the project, goal, or tag: You can also connect to Slack directly from the project, goal, or tag detail. For projects and goals select Share then select Connect to chat. For tags select Followers at the top right of the tag page. Then select Connect to chat.
